Peacock Ring Leathers are the small leather tabs that join the rubber safety ring to the stirrup iron on a pair of peacock safety stirrups. If a leather has perished or snapped, these replacement pieces get your safety stirrups back in use without having to buy a whole new pair.

What these are for

Peacock safety stirrups use a rubber ring on the outer side of the iron in place of a solid branch, designed to release the foot in a fall. That ring is held in place by a small leather loop at the top and a peg at the bottom. These ring leathers are the top loops that secure the rubber ring to the iron. Over time the leather dries out, stretches or tears, so keeping a spare pair on hand is sensible.

How to fit

Slip the leather over the top hook of the rubber ring, then loop it onto the stirrup eye so the ring sits on the outer side of the iron. Check both leathers are secure before riding and replace them at the first sign of cracking or stretching.
