Anti Grazing Reins by Solo Saddlers
Stop your horse from snatching at the bit or stretching down to graze mid-ride. These anti grazing reins (also known as grass reins) attach from the saddle, run through rings on the bridle and clip to the bit, so the horse self-corrects every time it tries to drop its head.
Key Features
- Strong nylon construction that withstands daily schooling and outrides
- Fits ponies through to standard size horses (not suitable for XL or draught horses)
- Attaches from the saddle, threads through bridle rings, clips to the bit
- Horse self-corrects when reaching for grass — no rider intervention needed
- Ideal for novice riders, lead-rein lessons and ponies that test their riders
How They Work
When the horse drops its head to grab a mouthful of grass, the anti grazing rein tightens against the bit and applies a small, consistent pressure on the mouth. The horse quickly learns that lowering its head means discomfort, so it stays in a working frame. A humane training aid for any horse or pony with a grazing habit.
Fitting Notes
Fit on a snaffle bridle once the bit is in place. Allow enough length for the horse to flex at the poll comfortably, but not enough to reach the ground. Always supervise the first ride to check the horse responds correctly.
