Stainless steel
Reduced nutcracker action
The flat, oval plate removes the severe nutcracker action of the snaffle, and encourages the horse to be lighter and lean on the bit less, as there is more mobility in the mouthpiece.
The link lies flat against the horse's tongue and transfers rein pressure more evenly over the bars.
Why choose a French link snaffle?
The double-jointed French link is one of the gentlest snaffle mouthpieces available. Where a single-jointed snaffle pinches the tongue and palate with a nutcracker action under rein contact, the central oval plate of the French link sits flat and disperses pressure across the tongue and bars. This makes it a sound choice for young horses, sensitive mouths, and any rider working towards a softer, more consistent contact.
Key features
- Solid stainless steel construction for durability and easy cleaning
- Flat oval centre link that lies against the tongue and reduces the nutcracker action
- Even distribution of rein pressure across the bars of the mouth
- Encourages a lighter, more responsive contact and discourages leaning
- Available in 125mm and 135mm to suit a range of horses and ponies
Fitting and care
Measure your horse's existing bit or mouth width to choose between the 125mm and 135mm options. The bit should sit comfortably with roughly 5mm clearance on each side of the lips, creating one or two soft wrinkles at the corners of the mouth. Rinse after every ride and dry thoroughly to keep the stainless steel in good condition.
