How to Use Solo Dubbin

Solo Dubbin is used to soften, condition and waterproof leather tack and goods. For best results, clean your leather first with a leather cleaner such as Solo Saddle Soap, then apply dubbin evenly with a sponge or cloth.

Heating the dubbin slightly before application makes it easier to spread and helps it penetrate the leather more effectively.

When to Use Dubbin

Apply dubbin after cleaning whenever your leather feels stiff, dry or needs waterproofing. Regular use extends the life of your tack and keeps leather supple and protected. Ideal for saddles, bridles, boots, belts and other smooth leather goods.

Where Not to Use Dubbin

Dubbin darkens most leather slightly. On working tack that is usually welcome, but on pale or matched show tack it may not be. Test on a hidden patch such as a billet or girth strap first.

• Not for suede, nubuck or roughout, where the waxes mat the nap and darken the finish permanently
• Not for patent or heavily finished leather, where the sealed surface cannot absorb it
• Not for synthetic tack such as Biothane or nylon, which needs only soap and water
