Why a Leather-Wrapped Curb Chain

A bare steel curb chain can pinch and rub the chin groove, especially on thin-skinned or sensitive horses. Wrapping the chain in soft leather softens contact without dulling the cue — your horse still feels the signal, just without the bite. When to Use One

If your horse fusses, head-tosses or shows rubs along the chin groove with a bare chain, a leather-wrapped version is the obvious next step. Also useful for young horses still settling into curb action, and for sensitive types working in everyday horse riding gear.

Fitting

Adjust the chain so two fingers fit comfortably between the chain and the chin groove when the rein is at rest. The chain should only engage once the curb rein is drawn back.
