How to Use

Apply a thin, even coat to clean leather using a soft cloth or sponge. Allow it to soak in before buffing off any excess. For best results, use regularly as part of your leather care routine. Pair with a good grooming session for tack that looks and feels its best.

Where Neatsfoot Oil Does Not Belong

Neatsfoot oil penetrates deepest of the traditional leather treatments and is the easiest one to overdo. Less is more: leather can only absorb so much, and the excess just attracts dust and turns tacky. Test on a hidden patch such as a billet or girth strap first.

• Not for suede, nubuck or roughout - the oils mat the nap and the change is not reversible. These need a dry brush and a dedicated suede cleaner.
• Not for patent or heavily finished leather, where the sealed surface cannot absorb it.
• Not for synthetic tack such as Biothane or nylon, which needs only soap and water.
• Not for safety-critical leather that is already soft. This is the important one. Stirrup leathers, girth straps and billets carry your weight, and leather that has been over-oiled to the point of feeling limp has lost strength rather than gained it. If a leather stretches easily between your hands or the buckle holes have gone oval, replace it rather than treat it.
