How Running Reins Work
Running reins run from your hands, through the bit, and attach to the girth, either on each side of the girth or between the horse's front legs. They work by putting pressure on the horse's mouth and poll, encouraging him to lower his head, flex at the poll and work on the vertical, engage the hindquarters and develop correct muscle.
