DESCRIPTION
This is a combination of an anti-rearing bit (chifney bit) and a jointed snaffle. Commonly used on race horses, the Dexter Ring Bit gives the rider more steering and stopping power. The snaffle fits normally in the horse's mouth while the big ring fits around the lower jaw.
Key Features
- Combination anti-rearing and snaffle horse bit in one design
- Jointed snaffle mouthpiece for responsive communication
- Large ring fits around the lower jaw for added control
- Ideal for race horses and strong pullers
- Improved steering and stopping power
How It Works
The Dexter Ring Bit combines two functions into a single bit. The jointed snaffle sits in the horse's mouth like a standard snaffle bit, applying gentle pressure to the bars and tongue. The large ring wraps around the lower jaw, acting as an anti-rearing device similar to a chifney bit. Together, they give riders significantly more control without needing two separate pieces of tack.
Best Suited For
This bit is popular among racing yards and riders working with strong, forward-going horses. It's a practical choice when you need more stopping power than a standard snaffle provides, or when dealing with horses that tend to rear or evade the bit.
