Anti-Rearing Bit (Chifney Bit)
An anti-rearing or chifney bit clips onto your halter to give you more control when leading strong, bolshy horses and prevents rearing. Also called a chifney bit, it is commonly used on stallion halters to give the handler extra control.
How It Works
The straight or ported mouthpiece fits into the horse's mouth and the round ring fits behind the chin. The rings on the sides are attached to a halter using bit straps, and the lead rope is attached to the 3rd ring at the back of the bit.
It works by applying pressure to the tongue and bars of the horse's mouth, and should fit in the same position as a normal bit.
