About the Adjustable Gullet

The gullet is the channel that sits over the horse's withers. A fixed-gullet saddle has to be retired or sold the moment a horse builds muscle, drops condition or moves to a different rider. An adjustable gullet means the saddle can be re-fitted in minutes — a real cost-saver for working riders with more than one horse.

Fitting Tip

Check the gullet width with the saddle resting on the horse's back, no pad underneath. There should be roughly three fingers' clearance above the withers, and the bars should sit evenly behind the shoulder blade. If you're between widths, go up — a narrow saddle will pinch, a slightly wide one can be padded.
