Dandy Brush Child — Pony Grooming for Small Hands
Small hands, big grooming power. Designed for smaller hands, this child-sized dandy brush makes grooming your pony easy, fun and effective — lightweight, durable and perfectly shaped for little fingers.
The Perfect First Grooming Brush
This child-sized dandy brush is the ideal introduction to horse care for young equestrians. Crafted with a durable plastic back and firm synthetic bristles, it removes dirt, dust and loose hair with ease — while remaining gentle and manageable for smaller hands.
Its compact design encourages independence and builds confidence, helping children develop real grooming skills from the very beginning.
How to Use a Dandy Brush
The dandy brush is used after the curry comb to flick away the dirt and hair that's been loosened. Use short, brisk strokes in the direction of the hair growth, flicking outward at the end of each stroke. Work over the body, neck and hindquarters, then use it where a dandy brush earns its keep: muddy legs, manes, tails and around the hooves. Avoid the face and any clipped or sensitive areas; switch to a softer body brush for those.

Pony Club Tip
If your child is going to a Pony Club rally or working towards a grooming badge, label the back of the brush with their name or initials in permanent marker. A child-sized brush is easy to mix up in the tack room — labelling stops it walking off and makes sure each rider learns with their own kit.
Care Tip
Rinse the bristles in clean water after each use and let the brush dry bristles-down — this prevents water sitting in the back and keeps the bristles firm and effective for years.
Common Questions
Who is this brush suited to?
It is sized for children and junior grooms who find a full-size dandy brush too wide to hold comfortably. Older teens and adults will be better served by an adult brush, and the smaller shape also suits anyone grooming ponies, miniatures and foals.
Can it be used on a full-size horse?
Yes, though grooming a big horse takes longer with a smaller brush. It is best used by children working on their own pony or assisting with a family horse.
Part of Your Grooming Kit
The dandy brush sits between the curry comb and body brush in the grooming sequence. It is worth building the set from our grooming range: pair it with the matching Curry Comb Child and Body Brush Child, or start with the Grooming Kit Child Solo for a complete junior grooming set that teaches proper technique from day one.
