DESCRIPTION
Fits easily into your hand. Removes botfly eggs quickly and effectively.
The Bot Block is a pumice or styrofoam block used to lift botfly eggs off the horse's coat. Bot eggs are usually laid on the legs or shoulder, and they're yellow and roughly the size of a grain of sand — easier to spot on darker-haired horses.
Why Use a Bot Block?
Bot eggs left on the coat can be ingested when a horse self-grooms, which is how internal bot infestations begin. Removing eggs at the source breaks the cycle and reduces the parasite load before deworming is needed.
Key Features
- Compact size — fits comfortably in one hand for control during grooming
- Pumice/styrofoam construction lifts eggs without irritating the skin
- Lightweight and easy to carry in any grooming kit
- Effective on all coat colours — most useful on dark coats where eggs are more visible
How to Use
Run the block in short, light strokes over the legs, shoulders, belly, and any area where you spot the small yellow eggs. The slightly abrasive surface catches the eggs and lifts them clear of the hair without scratching the skin.
