DESCRIPTION
Rattlers are ankle straps fitted with roller balls, worn on a show horse's front legs to encourage a more animated, high stepping action. As the horse moves, the rollers make it aware of each leg, helping to build the lift and knee action prized in saddle seat and American Saddlebred classes.
How rattlers work
Worn on the front legs, the roller balls move with every stride and gently draw the horse's attention to lifting and flexing the leg. Used consistently in training, they help develop the elevated, expressive gait that show horses are judged on.

Using rattlers in training
Introduce rattlers gradually so the horse becomes accustomed to the sensation before working at pace. They are a training aid, not a substitute for correct, patient schooling.
