The Solo Nutcracker Windsucking Collar is designed to stop horses from windsucking and crib biting — two stable vices that can lead to weight loss, incisor wear and a higher risk of colic if left unchecked.

How it works

The aluminium nutcracker gently constricts the horse's windpipe at the moment he tenses his throat to suck wind. The horse quickly learns to associate the behaviour with discomfort and stops, while normal eating, drinking and breathing remain completely unrestricted.

Why use an anti-windsucking collar?

Windsucking and crib biting are habit-forming vices that damage incisors, raise the risk of colic and unsettle other stabled horses. A correctly fitted collar is one of the simplest, most humane ways to break the cycle while you address the underlying causes — boredom, diet or stress.

Fitting tip

Position the nutcracker just below the throat latch and adjust the poll strap so two fingers fit comfortably underneath. Check daily for rubbing and reposition if needed. Remove during turnout or ridden work.
